With a career spanning four decades, he is celebrated for his fiery Latin Jazz piano technique and inventive arrangements. Irving has crafted award-winning orchestrations for luminaries such as Armando Manzanero, Luis Miguel, Eugenia León, Willie Colón, Tania Libertad, Shaila Dúrcal, and the San Diego Symphony. He has shared the stage with jazz and Latin jazz icons including Bill Watrous, Abraham Laboriel, Poncho Sánchez, Airto Moreira, Justo Almario, Johnny “Dandy” Rodríguez, Charles McPherson, and The Spanish Harlem Orchestra, extending his role beyond performance to global tours as a musical director, bringing Latin Jazz to international audiences. Recent achievements include orchestrating A Tribute to Frank Sinatra for a 70-piece San Diego Symphony, acclaimed by Artistic Director Jung-Ho Pak, and debuting his work with a 19-piece jazz orchestra alongside Dave Scott. In 2025, Irving released an album featuring all original compositions recorded with world-renowned artists, highlighting his profound influence and impact in the jazz world.
