Formerly based in NYC he has performed both as a leader and a sideman in many of NYC's exclusive jazz clubs. His 2024 release "As The Crow Flies" was nominated as Best Jazz Recording by the San Diego Music Awards. reviews: Throughout As The Crow Flies, Victor Baker plays in his own lyrical, subtle, and quietly creative style, sounding unlike any of the usual historic guitar influences. Scott Yanow- jazz journalist/historian and author of The Great Jazz Guitarists -- His light touch, fluidity and elegant lyricism at times suggest Pat Metheny, but as a point of reference, not a final destination, and his supple playing is a consistent delight.
