Roy McCurdy, born November 28, 1936, in Rochester, New York, is a jazz drumming icon, best known for his work with Cannonball Adderley’s Quintet (1965–1975). Playing professionally by sixteen, he studied at the Eastman School of Music and performed with the Mangione Brothers, Sonny Rollins, and others. His 150–200 recordings include work with Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald, and Herbie Hancock. McCurdy’s hard-bop style—driving and melodic—remains vibrant. A USC Thornton School of Music professor and 2020 Rochester Music Hall of Fame inductee, he performs with enduring energy. Carey Frank, originally from South Florida and now in Los Angeles, holds a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Piano Performance from the University of Central Florida and a Masters in Jazz Studies from USC. He has played with Kate Hudson, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Michael Bublé, Joan Jett, and others. A performer, composer, and educator, Frank teaches at El Camino College and Los Angeles College of Music. Carey Frank is a dynamic and versatile jazz organist, pianist, and keyboardist whose soulful touch and inventive improvisation have earned him a prominent place in today’s modern jazz and contemporary music scenes. A Los Angeles-based musician, Carey is known for his work on the Hammond B3 organ, where he blends deep groove, harmonic sophistication, and a joyful spirit that nods to tradition while forging new creative paths. A graduate of the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music and the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music, Carey has performed and recorded with an eclectic range of artists, including Tedeschi Trucks Band, Bruce Springsteen, Michael Bublé, Melody Gardot, and jazz legends like Bob Mintzer, Gregory Porter, and Roy McCurdy. In addition to his in-demand performance career, Carey is a sought-after session musician and arranger, with credits spanning jazz, soul, funk, pop, and film/TV. His solo album, Something to Remember Him By, showcases his lyrical touch and heartfelt approach to jazz standards and original compositions.
